An Image to Help You With Concentration

Imagine you are wearing a headtorch when you sit down to work. Sometime you are in wide beam and noticing movement everywhere, other times, you fine-tune to a narrow beam. Let your working day be about adjusting and readjusting your beam based on your understanding of what the story needs. We move between wide beam and tunnelled beam throughout our interactions, often without noticing it, so it’s a measure of control to visualise adjusting this focus. Concentration is non-linear. Consider what you spotlight carefully. Also, you can leave the torch in place, come out of yourself, and discover what lives in the shadows of your character. I bet you’ll be surprised. I always am. This is a great way of developing illumination around a scene or person. Good luck x
